I’m still tinkering with the new headphones. Here I will cover some features not originally covered and where I previously concentrated on how great these are, this post will look at where some of the shortcomings and where some serious problems lie. Why are so many people disapointed?
Battery: when charged at 100% USB, in bluetooth mode works for roughly 2 hours. Case 2 : 43% 7.am Standby WiFi On, Bluetooth off 5.00Pm DEAD. Charge at 6.00 Pm Full charge 8.15Pm Power off. Case 3: 6.30 Am 100% reads 3.26hours track paused no WiFi… Several test later the battery has a problem. Even with the software update 1.1.4 Update: 1.1.5 seems to have addressed a bit of the battery issues. At least I see an improvement.
Music Services: Amazon, Spotify and Soundcloud. I personally think there’s a problem with the strength and stability of the WiFi. I can’t stay logged onto to these music services. The most success I had was with Spotify. Everytime, I have to log in to the service. There doesn’t appear to have any sort of built in cache to remember the log in credentials or options to save password. Spotify is also the only way to build playlists. Even when I get on, all my playlists load up but I can’t always get sound. So over 3 minutes of fiddling to log on and going back to the librairy to play Spotify… Still not up and running. Maybe works 10% of the time close range to router.
Software Update: New Version 1.1.4 It took 3 tries but eventually it updated. I don’t believe it addressed some of the issues it was suppose to. Update: new update 1.1.5 just loaded. Appears a bit better.
Voice Control: The voice recognition system is not working well. I can’t find a place in the set up to re calibrate it, Unless I guess I reset all the settings.
Voice Wake up: 2 modes… Wear only or Always on. Useless unless I reset. my headphones. I probably will later.
Controls: When in Bluetooth, can’t access any other setup features.
Telephone: No review yet. I need an accomplice.
Recording: I went through the motion of recording. I actually interacted with the headphones, voice. So I could pause the recording, but I couldn’t stop it. I imagine to see the recording I need to go to the browser. Presently, I don’t know what I recorded.
WiFi Setup: Standard interface works.
WiFi: Maybe for lack of imaginaion, but apart from the music services and transfering files, The Wifi doesn’t do much more. However it maybe draining the battery. It certainly doesn’t keep the music services connected. Most of my testing has been done within a 12 foot radius of the router.
Airplane Mode: Works, finishes the buffered song, turns off the Wifi.
Screen Adjust Brightness: Responds.
On Screen Volume Control: Works
3 D Effect: Works, if its what you like.
Music Visualizer: Not there yet. I keep it off to save battery
Radio: How does it really work? What does it seem to do? And how do you stop it. Appears to feed off the Chip Librairy?
Library: Poor management, you can transfer the music to it. It breaks it down into 3 categories My Favorites, My Imported, Recently played. (Spotify Playlist) sometimes appears when connected. Within Library I found another feature… Top right looks like a refresh button when you are scrolling through the songs, allows you to Single Repeat, List Repeat or Shuffle.
My Imported: let’s you take off the headphones and choose a song. My voice recognition doesn’t work.
My Favourites is supposed to fetch from the online services. You can identify a favorite by tapping twice on the headphones. But you can’t connect to the services.
Recently Played keeps a tab of what’s been played.
Suggestions: The browser interface should allow you to build playlists and send them to the librairy. The Librairy should have another heading called playlist.
I haven’t figured out how to reduce the volume up and down Beep. It is deafening.
